The maiden 2014 Beaujolais Blanc comes from a vineyard bought by Rottier in 2013. He quipped that the wine is more like a white Loire! It comes from clay-rich soil, and the wine did not go through any malolactic fermentation. It has a clean and precise nose of white flowers and apple peelings – timid, but defined. The palate is precise, with a crisp, citric line of acidity that lends this freshness if not the length or mineralité that you find further south. This is a fine debut white wine from one of Beaujolais' most exciting winemakers.
